5 youth activists appeal for help to attend the landmark World Peace Congress

Peace education and youth leadership supporters are being called upon to help 5 global peace youth leaders attend the upcoming International Peace Bureau’s World Peace Congress. PeaceQuest supports the IPB and we will be hosting a workshop during the congress from October 15-17, 2021 in Barcelona.

Here’s more from the IPB…

From the International Peace Bureau

We are all in this together…

The world stands at a historically unique crossroads – either the abyss of nuclear, ecological, and social disaster or a common, just, demilitarized and environmentally sustainable future. The social and environmental catastrophes reinforced by greed, racism, and sexism are undeniable. But we are not helpless – we can and are mobilising to restore health to our planet.

The International Peace Bureau (IPB) is taking action. From October 15-17 2021, we will be holding the Second World Peace Congress in the Mediterranean city of Barcelona. The Congress, a three day interactive event, is an opportunity for diverse people, groups and movements to share strategies and re-imagine a world free of these crises, taking action for peace, justice and the planet.

We have a teeny tiny problem

The youth speakers either represent small or under-resourced NGO’s or are self-funded individuals. Without external financial support their attendance will not be possible and their voices will be lost. Likewise, travelling to Barcelona is also not possible for many participants from the global south yet excluding them will immediately set us on the path to failure. We are working hard to circumvent these barriers but we cannot do it alone.

But we are doing something about it.

At IPB we take inclusion seriously and we do not believe money should determine ones capacity for participation. Therefore we are launching this campaign to help us close the exclusion gap. Raised funds will support the basic costs of four youth speakers to attend the Congress and improve our technological capacities to include those from the global south unable to make the journey to Barcelona.
