Fossil banks – no thanks!

We received this bulletin from our friends at the Climate Emergency Unit.

A shocking new report exposes the world’s biggest financiers of fossil fuels in 2022… and guess which bank landed in the number one spot? RBC.

Canada’s RBC ranked as the number one financier in the world. Sadly, all of Canada’s top 5 banks scored abysmally.

Our banks are key players when it comes to banking on climate chaos. Since the Paris Accord, big banks have increased their climate financing by billions of dollars. This amount of spending lays bare that their net zero promises are nothing more than greenwashing. Last year, the fossil fuel industry made $4 trillion in income 😳.

We at the Climate Emergency Unit are among over 600 endorsers of this report. We encourage you to share as far and wide as possible to raise awareness on the unjust spending of major corporations and financial institutions.
