PeaceQuest is growing, and we want to make sure that we focus our work where it is needed most. Will you help us to write a new mission statement?
What’s a mission statement?
A mission statement is a one-sentence statement describing the reason an organization exists. Many non-profit, mission-driven organizations like ours use a mission statement to guide their decision-making.
Here are a few examples of good mission statements:
- Oxfam: To create lasting solutions to poverty, hunger, and social injustice.
- Heifer International: To work with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the Earth.
- Human Rights Watch defends the rights of people worldwide.
You’ll notice that mission statements generally have three parts:
