The International Peace Bureau (IPB), the world’s oldest and largest peace coalition, released a new video of highlights from its recent Peace Congress. Featured speakers include Jeremy Corbyn and Vandana Shiva.

“(Re)imagine the world. Action for peace and justice,” drew more than 2,500 people who took part in the Second IPB World Peace Congress held in Barcelona last October. The Congress was broadcasted on the Internet, and PeaceQuest hosted a workshop at the event.

With COVID-19 receding at the time, over 1,000 people attended the congress in person, while 1,500 attended virtually. Participants came from 126 countries. In Barcelona, activists from 75 countries including South Korea, the United States, Afghanistan, India and Mongolia, were also able to listen to the speeches covering issues such as nuclear disarmament, climate justice, racism and the rights of indigenous peoples.

I fully agree with your opposition to Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine. But I also strongly oppose the Ukraine’s refusal to agree NOT TO JOIN NATO which is a military threat to Russia. If the Ukraine had offered such an agreement on condition that Russia would then commit to not invading the Ukraine, the whole affair could’ve been settled by diplomatic means without the horrific destruction and loss of life. Both parties share the responsibility for the current disaster.
