Debate will assess Canadian peacekeeping: helping or harming the world?
Panelists are Jemima Pierre, Mitchell Thompson, Walter Dorn, Yves Engler, Peter Langille, Bianca Mugyenyi
Peacekeeping has become a contested part of Canada’s identity in recent years. Derided by both Canada’s military elite, and Canada’s left, it's no wonder that Canada hardly sends any troops to United Nations missions anymore.
But even still, peacekeeping remains a symbol of Canada’s ability to navigate the global superpowers to promote peace through the UN.
Next week the Canadian Foreign Policy Institute will host the webinar Understanding Canadian Peacekeeping: Myths and Realities. It will discuss whether peacekeeping has been an alternative to NATO or a means to advance Washington’s objectives.
Join Professor Jemima Pierre, journalist Mitchell Thompson, Professor Walter Dorn, author Yves Engler and Peter Langille at this free public webinar.
