We received this invitation from our colleagues at the International Peace Bureau (IPB):
I’m delighted to invite you to our third webinar of our series ‘Peace Movement in Action’ called ‘Feminist Voices for Peace from Russia’. It will take place next Wednesday, 11 May 2022 at 19.00 CET (in Canada, this is 1:00 PM ET, and 10:00 AM Pacific).
It will be a discussion on the actions being taken to promote peace and nonviolence in Russia in light of the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. All of the four speakers will offer a feminist perspective on social activities regarding peace and nonviolence within the Russian Federation, which in light of dwindling freedom of speech seems to be more important than ever. The speakers will highlight the challenges of peace activism in Russia, but also share some of their successes and provide an insight into their personal position to the ongoing war.
Our speakers will be:
1. Zarina Marshenkulova, feminist, journalist and author of the « Women’s Power » telegram channel
2. Olga Demidova, one of the founders of the media partisan movement
3. Luiza Bekova, women’s rights activist
4. Asya Maruket, one of the founders of the « E-dial project » for peace
