Updated! Hiroshima and Nagasaki Day events in Canada 2022
Victoria, Calgary, Salt Spring Island, West Kootenays, Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver
Every year peace groups organize events in cities and communities around the word to remember the horrific atomic bombing by the United States of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, on August 6 and August 9, 1945.
The events typically include guest speakers, music, and lantern ceremonies where paper, hand-made lanterns are floated on ponds. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, many events have moved online.

Elizabeth May will be the keynote speaker at the annual ceremony in remembrance of the bombing of Hiroshima, on August 6th, 1945. This year marks 77 years since the bombing.

In Castlegar, meet at the Doukhobor Discovery Center at 6 pm for Hiroshima Day on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 6:00 pm and then in Grand Forks for Nagasaki Day on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 in Gyro Park at 6 pm.
