Canada is proudly fighting back against Trump’s unfair economic attack on Canada – but one powerful move is not even being discussed: cancelling Canada’s $19 billion contract for a fleet of U.S.-built F-35 fighter jets.
America is no longer a trusted ally, and Trump is trying to take over Canada.
So military experts are worried we have made a huge mistake in purchasing the American-made F-35.
Does Trump have his finger on the “kill-switch”?
Critics have pointed out that the F-35’s high cost, questionable performance and complicated engineering makes it a poor choice for Canada.
But even worse, Internet folklore suggests that the United States government can disable F-35s sold to other countries, including Canada, at the flick of a switch.
Canada’s military says there is no such “kill switch,” but if President Trump were to direct the U.S.-maker Lockheed Martin to not provided essential software upgrades required to safely operate the aircraft, over time Canada’s F-35 will put pilots at risk.
“This is a very serious issue,” a former defence executive told the Ottawa Citizen’s David Pugliese. “Certainly the situation makes it difficult to sustain operations without continued support.”
