Join A-bomb survivor Setsuko Thurlow for “The Vow from Hiroshima”

A new film, "The Vow From Hiroshima" is an intimate portrait of Setsuko Thurlow, a survivor of the atomic bombing by the United States of Hiroshima, Japan. She was 13 years old when the atomic bomb blew up over her city in 1945. Her moving story is told through the lens of her growing friendship with a second-generation survivor, Mitchie Takeuchi.

The Canadian virtual premiere of The Vow from Hiroshima is taking place on Sunday, 8 August at 4:00 PDT/7:00 EDT.

This first-ever Canadian screening of the film takes place during the annual commemorations of the bombings of Hiroshima (6 August) and Nagasaki (9 August).

Canada has not joined the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, despite overwhelmingly high levels of public support for the Treaty within Canada, and Setsuko’s committed advocacy.

Join this two part event! 

The 90-minute online film screening will be followed by a 30-minute only conversation with Setsuko, filmmakers Susan Strickler and Mitchie Takeuchi, and Canadian anti-nuclear activists. It will end with a call to action.
