The Pope’s messages are needed. So would be if he and the leaders of every religion would meet together to promote peace and condemn war and violence that is happening too often in the name of religions. I agree with the comment below too.
It would be wonderful if Pope Leo were to compare the three Abrahamic religions on peacefulness. How many casualties do they forgive before killing in return, and do they then kill more, or fewer? The spread is not at all subtle.
Yes I want Canada to take a strong and effective response to Cuba's plight. There is growing list where I want Canada to act justly and impartial. It's hard to keep up with violent offences. In each situation I think nothing less than complete self-determination must happen and be supported by everyone. As for Cuba I know how much they have struggled with the ongoing sanctions over decades from the United States supported by others. The rhetoric that Cuba's plight of poor economics is blamed on their communist ideology is ludicrous. Let all people be free with boundaries that respect world views and politics that do not harm people.
One question about Cuba. My reading has suggested that many places like Mexico and Turkey have sent solar resources. Even Palestine have found ways of using solar energy to maintain them with very basic life needs. Is that not the case?
Yes. I think Canadians should ,as you write, heed the Pope’s criticism of war spending while so many people are in need. This is a wake up call for us. We need to have 3.5% of the Canadian population to bring about a change in our government, as explained by Erica Chenoweth in 2013 : when 3.5% of the population of a country protest nonviolently, change can happen.
The message of Pope Leo is a beacon of hope in the utter darkness of war. Now it is time for other religious leaders to follow his lead.
