New leadership at the International Peace Bureau

The International Peace Bureau is the world's largest and oldest peace network

A new group of IPB officials was elected at the International Peace Bureau’s Triennial Assembly held in Ghent on October 15, 2022.

Corazon Valdez Fabros of the Philippines was elected Co-President of IPB, and joins the UK’s Philip Jennings who continues as a Co-President.

Three new Vice Presidents were elected in Ghent: Arielle Denis and Alain Rouy of France, and this author, Steven Staples of Canada.

In related news, Sean Conner of the United States has been appointed Executive Director of IPB, taking the helm from Reiner Braun of Germany.

The many new faces on the Board, Council and staff can be seen on the IPB website.

The IPB comprises 300 member organizations in 70 countries, and together with individual members, it forms a global network of experts and advocates working on similar issues in order to build strong civil society movements. It is one of the world’s oldest civil society groups being founded in 1891. It was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1910, and over the years, 13 of the IPB’s officers have likewise become Nobel Peace Laureates.

PeaceQuest is a member of the International Peace Bureau. The IPB promotes peacemaking, advocacy and peace education.
