Our Peace Poll finds people divided over this question
The PeaceQuest community is undecided on the Government's leadership. Read what people are saying
We are watching our polarized neighbours in the United States elect their next President by the narrowest of margins. But we should not be over confident that we don't have a similar disagreement over the future of our country, here at home.
Members of PeaceQuest's community are divided over the direction Canada has been heading under the Liberal minority government.
Our informal “Peace Poll” last weekend asked PeaceQuest visitors whether they thought Canada was on the right track, or the wrong track.
Overall, do you think Canada is on the right track, or the wrong track?
A slim plurality of 43% said Canada was on the right track, with 42% answering that Canada was on the wrong track. Of the 65 people who responded, 15% said they were unsure.
Here is a selection of the many comments left by members of the PeaceQuest community.
It's good news, bad news. I have been happy to see many aspects of the response to COVID-19, many of which were improved by NDP negotiations with the Liberals -- income supports, for example. Shows how government can do things when it perceives a crisis. But on climate change! Ouch! The federal Liberals still don't get it that we can't continue to subsidize an industry that is destroying our planet.
Not the best time for an election, given the exigencies associated with COVID-19. On the other hand, it would be a great time for some form of a citizens' assembly to consult with as great a representation of ordinary people to discuss what a post-pandemic Canada should be like.
I think we ned to see more action from the Liberals on environmental and peace issues before we can know
Sick to death of THE MEN leading this country....want to see able women take their place.
Doing the right thing with regard to covid and anti-austerity - but why do we not support a nuclear test ban?
PeaceQuest’s Peace Poll will return at the end of the month when we’ll ask people the same question, once again, and track any shifts in the mood of our community over time.
