Take our new Peace Poll: Hate groups in Canada?
Cast your vote: How concerned are you about hate groups (e.g. Proud Boys) in Canada?
The need to oppose groups that promote hate is becoming a greater priority for people concerned about the future of our democracy and society.
On Monday, Parliament voted unanimously to urge the Trudeau government to identify the Proud Boys as a terrorist entity.
The next day, peace and social justice leaders, organizations, and public figures signed an open letter echoing the call for politicians to, “Denounce and take policy steps to eradicate hate however, and wherever, it may appear.”
Also this week, the federal government declared January 29 a national day of remembrance for the 2017 Quebec City mosque attack in a move to honour the victims and express solidarity with the survivors.
Peace Poll: Hate groups in Canada?
This month we ask the PeaceQuest community: “How concerned are you about hate groups (e.g. Proud Boys) in Canada?” This question is in addition to our monthly gauge of the direction of Canada, which we have been tracking since the Fall of 2020.
