Supporters urge 144 MPs to support UN Nuclear Ban Treaty
One party received more letters than all the others
PeaceQuest supporters have been working hard for the UN Nuclear Ban Treaty, especially as the landmark treaty’s entry-into-force approaches on January 22, 2021.
Throughout November, 368 PeaceQuest supporters wrote email letters to 144 MPs urging them to support the UN Nuclear Ban Treaty, also called the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW).
It was part of a new initiative by PeaceQuest to empower people to connect with their local Members of Parliament.
Most PeaceQuest supporters live in ridings represented by Liberal MPs, with 221 letters sent to Liberals, along with 85 letters sent to Conservatives, 48 letters to NDPs, 8 to Greens, 5 to Bloc Quebecoise MPs, and one to an Independent MP.

The campaign was made possible by supporters' donations that paid for new software that empowers community members to email their MP by simply entering their postal code and clicking “send.”
Later, we contacted all campaign participants asking for them to forward MPs’ responses to PeaceQuest. An expert analysis has been conducted on those emails and is published on the PeaceQuest website.
Our thanks to everyone who participated in the campaign.
