Take the poll: Trudeau, NATO and military spending
Compare your answers to the Angus Reid Foundation’s findings
In the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, there has been mounting pressure on Canada from NATO members to spend more on defence (NATO is the military alliance of Western Europe, the United States and Canada).
But…according to leaked documents, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau privately told NATO officials that Canada would never meet the military alliance's two per cent of GDP goal of defence spending (GDP is the value of our entire economy).
The Angus Reid Foundation asked Canadians their reaction to the revelation through an online survey from May 8 – 10, 2023. You can read the results on their website – but why not take the poll yourself first, then compare your answers with the poll’s findings?
