Our dear friend and long-time PeaceQuest member, Jeff Piker, passed away quietly in Kingston on September 21, 2020. You can read about his fulsome life, devoted to music, education and social justice, in the Kingston Whig Standard.

Jeff was active in hands-on roles in the community: PIC Press distribution, busking for Joe’s M.I.L.L., pitching in at Blue Skies Music Festival, organising at Kingston Pride, LGBTQ training at Queen’s Faculty of Medicine, mentoring newcomers through KEYS, supporting PeaceQuest events and helping to settle international students.

PeaceQuest extends its condolences to his family. Donations in memory may be directed to Joe’s M.I.L.L., Kingston’s musical instrument lending library.

Jeff was a kind and gentle soul with a great mind and I’m really glad I got to visit with him before he died. He was a great friend: we need many more like him.

I knew Jeff through our common work with PeaceQuest. Jeff was very enthusiastic about getting students thinking about peace. I was glad to meet Jeff in person at a Gathering PeaceQuest organized in Kingston. R.I.P. my friend, Jeff.
