Survey results: We are very active people

Last week we asked readers to take our Peace Activist Survey. What we found out was pretty interesting.

First, we should say that we have been running this survey for almost a year now, and have collected over 1000 responses. That’s more than half of everyone who receives our weekly Saturday morning newsletter! So, we think that gives us a pretty good idea of what interests people.

We asked everyone to complete this sentence: “Within the last year, I have done the following related to issues of peace, climate change, or social justice…”

The most frequently chosen answer is “Signed a petition.” That’s what we predicted, because we know that our community is really interested in taking action on the issues.

But the next most popular answer was pretty surprising, because it is, “Made a donation.” One might expect that actually giving a financial gift would be farther down the list. But nope, our folks are willing to chip-in for peace campaigns.

Considering that we have been in a pandemic, it’s not surprising that the least common answer is “Attended an event.” But since over half of people said they had done so, we’ll take that to mean online Zoom webinars, too.

We also asked people to let us know which other groups they support – and the list of organizations was about a varied as you can imagine. While awesome groups like the Council of Canadians and David Suzuki Foundation appeared a lot, there were plenty of small local organizations, too, showing that we have a very active community.

Thanks to everyone who participated! If you did not get a chance to answer, you can take our Peace Activist Survey anytime on PeaceQuest.ca.
