A condition of my response to send troops is if a ceasefire is brokered Canada would be clear that we are working on an impartial basis to ensure non violence is maintained while negotiations occur. It would be working against peace to go to protect the interests of the oil industry.

It is a slippery slope , especially with the history of jittery and soon betrayed ceasefires Israel has offered up in the past.

If there is a ceasefire, Canada's role could be akin to its traditional peacekeeping role, especially if the actions foreseen are undertaken by a broad group of like-minded countries operating under a UN banner. In these circumstances, Canada could make a positive contribution to lasting international peace in the Middle East.

I write “No”troops to Iran. Canada have long stood for peaceful negotiations to end war. Let’s continue that way with the UN
