I think it is presumptuous for Canada, a Settler-Colonial state or any other nation state to claim the Arctic. That is a colonialist attitude and claim. I think that the arctic circle from Alaska to Greenland should be recognized as the home of the Inuit People who have lived there successfully for at least thousands of years. I am very uncomfortable with Canada's plan to spend $billions to militarize the Arctic while ignoring the real needs of the Inuit people who have always lived there. I do appreciate the creation of Nunavut in 1999, an attempt at an Inuit Territory of Canada, but still not an independent Inuit country.
